About

About me

Originally from Surrey, I grew up in St Ives where both my parents were active members of its vibrant art community. In 1992, I was asked by potter John Bedding to manage his new gallery, St Ives Ceramics, and it was here that I was first introduced to the technique of raku firing. I set up my own workshop in 1995 to produce jewellery full time.

A member of the Cornwall Crafts Association since 1993, I have exhibited in over fifty galleries throughout the UK, as well as in Australia, Germany, France and Italy.

In 2005, I was invited by Pietro Maddalena, to work as a studio assistant at La Meridiana International School of Ceramics in Tuscany. I spent five months helping to run ceramic workshops, which also provided a wonderful opportunity to learn many new techniques. On my return to the UK, I joined the Gaolyard Studios in St Ives where I currently work alongside seven other ceramicists.

Inspiration and design

I have always been drawn to the strong geometric lines of the Art Deco period: the interiors and facades of buildings in particular. I also have a passion for the colourful patterns of the 1960s. These two specific times in design history provide endless ideas and my lovely collection of books is a constant source of reference.
